उग्रवादी बर्नार्ड एन. मारक को बीजेपी ने बनाया उपाध्यक्ष और चलाने लगे ‘वेश्यालय’ से छह नाबालिग बचाए गए, 73 गिरफ़्तार: पुलिस
शिलॉन्ग: शनिवार को मेघालय भाजपा के उपाध्यक्ष बर्नार्ड एन. मारक द्वारा कथित तौर पर तुरा में संचालित एक ‘वेश्यालय’ पर छापा मारकर पुलिस ने छह नाबालिग बच्चों को बचाने के साथ 73 लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया. इस दौरान करीब 400 बोतल शराब तथा 500 से अधिक कंडोम बरामद किए गए.
एक पुलिस अधिकारी ने इसकी पुष्टि करते हुए कहा कि यह वेश्यालय तुरा में चलाया जा रहा था. पश्चिम गारो हिल्स जिले के पुलिस अधीक्षक विवेकानंद सिंह ने बताया कि खुफिया सूचना के आधार पर उग्रवादी से नेता बने मारक के स्वामित्व वाले फार्म हाउस रिंपू बागान पर छापा मारा गया.
सिंह ने कहा, ‘हमने छह नाबालिग बच्चों (चार लड़के और दो लड़कियां) को बचाया है, जो कि रिंपू बागान के गंदे कमरों में बंद पाए गए, जिसे बर्नार्ड एन. मारक और उनके सहयोगियों द्वारा वेश्यावृत्ति के उद्देश्य से वेश्यालय के रूप में चलाया जाता था.
उन्होंने कहा कि सभी बच्चों को सुरक्षित अभिरक्षा और कानून के अनुसार आवश्यक कार्रवाई के लिए जिला बाल संरक्षण अधिकारी (डीसीपीओ) को सौंप दिया गया है.
उन्होंने बताया कि छापेमारी में 27 वाहन, आठ दोपहिया वाहन, लगभग 400 बोतल शराब, 500 से अधिक कंडोम और क्रॉसबो (धनुष जैसा यंत्र) और तीर जब्त किए गए.
अधिकारी ने कहा कि 73 लोगों को ‘नापाक गतिविधियों’ में लिप्त होने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया. अधिकारी ने कहा कि फार्महाउस में 30 छोटे कमरे हैं.
उन्होंने आशंका जताई कि यह वही जगह है, जहां एक लड़की का यौन उत्पीड़न किया गया था और इस संबंध में फरवरी 2022 में मामला दर्ज किया गया था. उन्होंने बताया कि लड़की के परिजनों ने उसका पता रिंपू बागान से लगाया था.
समाचार एजेंसी पीटीआई के मुताबिक सिंह ने कहा, ‘यह पता चला है कि एक सप्ताह में कई बार नाबालिग का यौन उत्पीड़न किया गया था और आईपीसी की धारा 366ए (नाबालिग लड़की की खरीद), 376 (बलात्कार के लिए सजा) और पॉक्सो अधिनियम की धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया था.’
पीड़िता ने अदालत को बताया था कि आरोपी उसे और उसकी दोस्त को रिंपू बागान ले गए थे. उन्होंने कहा कि आरोपी व्यक्तियों ने वहां एक कमरा किराये पर लिया और कई बार उसका यौन शोषण किया.
अधिकारी ने कहा कि तुरा शहर के निवासियों से कई मौखिक शिकायतें भी मिली थीं, जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया था कि रिंपू बागान में अनैतिक गतिविधियां चल रही है, जिसके बाद यहां छापेमारी की योजना बनाई गई थी.
छापेमारी के दौरान पुलिस को कई युवक और युवतियां बिना कपड़े और शराब के मिले. उन्होंने कहा कि सभी 68 लोगों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया. संपत्ति के प्रबंधक, कार्यवाहक और तीन कर्मचारियों को भी गिरफ्तार किया गया है.
उन्होंने बताया कि आईपीसी की संबंधित धाराओं और अनैतिक तस्करी (रोकथाम) अधिनियम, 1956 के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया है.
पुलिस ने कहा कि उसने मारक से जांच में सहयोग करने और शिलॉन्ग सदर पुलिस स्टेशन में तुरंत आत्मसमर्पण करने को कहा है, लेकिन वह गिरफ्तारी से बच रहे थे.

Singh said, “We have rescued six minor children (four boys and two girls) who were found locked in dirty rooms in Rinpu Bagan, owned by Bernard N. It was run by Marak and his associates as a brothel for the purpose of prostitution.
He said that all the children have been handed over to the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) for safe custody and necessary action as per law.
He said that 27 vehicles, eight two-wheelers, about 400 bottles of liquor, more than 500 condoms and crossbows and arrows were seized in the raid, he said.
The official said 73 people were arrested for indulging in “nefarious activities”. The official said that there are 30 small rooms in the farmhouse.
He feared that this is the same place where a girl was sexually assaulted and a case was registered in this regard in February 2022. He told that the girl’s family had traced her from Rimpu Bagan.
According to news agency PTI, Singh said, “It has been learned that the minor was sexually assaulted several times in a week and under sections 366A (procurement of minor girl), 376 (punishment for rape) of IPC and POCSO Act.” A case was registered under the sections.
The victim had told the court that the accused had taken her and her friend to Rinpu Bagan. He said that the accused persons took a room on rent there and sexually assaulted her several times.
The official said that several verbal complaints were also received from the residents of Tura town, alleging that unethical activities were going on in Rinpu Bagan, following which raids were planned here.
During the raid, the police found many young men and women without clothes and alcohol. He said that all 68 people were arrested. The manager, caretaker and three employees of the property have also been arrested.
He informed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956.
Police said he had asked Marak to cooperate with the investigation and immediately surrender at the Shillong Sadar police station, but he was evading arrest.
Marak, an elected member of the Garo Tribal Autonomous District Council, in a statement regarding the raids, Chief Minister Konrad K. Targeting Sangma. Marak denied the allegation of running a ‘brothel’.
